Summer Intern Housing

Congratulations on your summer internship opportunity!

As you prepare for your short-term internship in the Heart of the Gator Nation, consider our affordable housing option specifically designed for interns! We offer apartment style housing during the summer months at a weekly, fixed rate.

Accommodations

Intern housing is located in Keys Complex and the Lakeside Complex based on the availability. Both Complexes are located on the University of Florida’s main campus.

All interns are lodged in apartment-style, single or double rooms. These apartment-style rooms are furnished with a kitchenette, living/dining area, private bedrooms (bed frame, XL full mattress, dresser/wardrobe, desk & chair per guest) and bathroom.

Inclusions & Eligibility

The rate for Intern Housing can be viewed on our Rates page. Please note that there is a one-time $100.00 processing fee and uneven final weeks will be prorated based on the daily rate listed.

Intern Housing, which runs from early May to early August, includes bedroom and bathroom, all utilities, DHNet (Internet) and cable TV access. However, it is important to note that kitchens are not stocked with cooking utensils, no television is provided, and laundry facilities are pay-per-load. Interns should work with their UF Host departments to establish UFIDs, Gator 1 Cards, and on-campus parking passes during their program. Mail services are not included and any mail received will be returned to sender. Guests are encouraged to establish a P.O. Box or request that their mail be received at their UF program location.

To be eligible for Intern Housing, a guest may not be a full-time summer student at the University of Florida and must be 18 years of age or older. An official letter must be submitted on letterhead, signed by the guest’s internship coordinator, which clearly states the internship program start date, end date, and location. It is not required that the guest be receiving credit for the internship.

A completed contract and full payment must be received at least 7 days prior to your contracted check-in date (unless otherwise agreed). Room keys will not be distributed until full payment is received. Full-time University of Florida summer school students are ineligible for Intern Housing with Conference Services and should contact Undergraduate Assignments or Graduate and Family Housing with summer housing inquiries.

Please note that any guest 17 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Also, a completed contract and full payment must be received at least 7 days prior to your contracted check-in date (unless otherwise agreed). Room Keys will not be distributed until full payment is received.

Once a contract is completed, payments may be made between 8:00am and 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Payment may be made by electronic journal transfer, check, credit card, money order or cash. If you are paying via Journal Transfer, you will need to provide your chart field information via email clearly indicating what reservation you are paying for and the invoice number. Money order and cash payments must be made in person at the Main Housing Office.

Issues or Emergencies

Any issues regarding internet or other guest services may be reported to your Area Desk 24-hours, 7 days a week. Please call Lakeside Complex Area Desk (352-392-1453) or the Keys Area Desk (352-392-8107) so staff may assist accordingly. An emergency in the area of maintenance or housekeeping is defined as a situation where a maintenance repair or some attention is essential in order to maintain the health and safety of the guest, as well as to protect the building and its property. These situations must be reported to the Area Desk as soon as possible.

In the event of an emergency, the guest should dial 9-1-1 or contact campus police (352-392-1111.) Guests should remain alert when on campus and always be aware of the nearest Blue Light station where campus police can be notified of an emergency. Guests should always lock their doors and keep their guest apartment keys on their person at all times.
